hello, salut, hola, 你好:

My name's Seamus and I'm 21 years old.
I live in Philadelphia.
I'm an English lit. and French double major,
art history minor.
I play the piano.
I'm a full time wumbologist.

I like books, a lot. I love reading, I love the smell of books, I love the sound when you first open a book and the spine makes that glorious stretch noise; nothing is more appealing to the eyes than a library full of old books.

I like to ski, a lot.
I speak French.
I'm hoping to start German this summer.
I love travelling.

I like questions.

I do not know. This story I am telling is all imagination. These characters I create never existed outside my own mind. If I have pretended until now to know my characters’ minds and innermost thoughts, it is because I am writing in (just as I have assumed some of the vocabulary and ‘voice’ of) a convention universally accepted at the time of my story: that the novelist stands next to God. He may not know all, yet he tries to pretend that he does. But I live in the age of Alain Robbe-Grillet and Roland Barthes; if this is a novel, it cannot be a novel in the modern sense of the word.

John Fowles, The French Lieutenant’s Woman

the chapter that this is taken from, I think chapter 13, really messed with my head. It declared itself as not a novel; and yet that’s exactly what it is.

I wonder how many people I’ve looked at all my life and never seen.

sick as a dog

hello 102 fever. I had to leave work early today for the first time.

So I’ve settled on a goal for my travelling next summer: 11 countries.

So this is my list:

Iceland (given - layover)

France (given)

England (given)

Ireland

Scotland

Germany

Italy

Spain

Switzerland

Netherlands

Belgium

Some countries that were hard to cut from the list:

Denmark

Norway

Sweden

Finland

and then all of eastern Europe

I considered visiting an eastern european country. But I figured there are just so many. So I’m going to save all of those for another trip. And obviously I can’t visit all of these countries as I would like to, but I will step foot in all of them. Good thing I’m making bank this summer at my job, cuz I sure as hell will need it.
